1929- All in a Year Book

Phillips University 1929

My father, Elgin Garrison, was two years younger than his sister, Aletheia.

I found him in the 1929 yearbook.

Elgin Garrison on the right

He was Vice-President of the Junior Class, and a member of the Band, Orchestra, and Glee Club.

I am pretty sure that is him on the far right of the second row!

Elgin Garrison first row  far right, Sheldon Hacker third row far right. This photo was marked "Stillwater Oklahoma"

Phillips was known for having a strong music program, and a few years later began the Tri-State Music Festival. In 1939 one of the professors started the Enid Symphony Orchestra.

However, so far I have not been able to find a picture of the band or orchestra in the yearbook. If you can find one, please leave me a comment!

I do have some pictures from my grandmother's photo album that show my father in his band uniform.

My father's good friend, Hacker, was a Senior that year, and a member of the Letter Club, Track team, and the "Ramblers."

The following year, he and my father would embark on a new adventure. (See next post!)
