Phillips University 1929
My father, Elgin Garrison, was two years younger than his sister, Aletheia.
I found him in the 1929 yearbook.
Elgin Garrison on the right |
He was Vice-President of the Junior Class, and a member of the Band, Orchestra, and Glee Club.
I am pretty sure that is him on the far right of the second row! |
Elgin Garrison first row far right, Sheldon Hacker third row far right. This photo was marked "Stillwater Oklahoma" |
Phillips was known for having a strong music program, and a few years later began the Tri-State Music Festival. In 1939 one of the professors started the Enid Symphony Orchestra.
However, so far I have not been able to find a picture of the band or orchestra in the yearbook. If you can find one, please leave me a comment!
I do have some pictures from my grandmother's photo album that show my father in his band uniform.
My father's good friend, Hacker, was a Senior that year, and a member of the Letter Club, Track team, and the "Ramblers."
The following year, he and my father would embark on a new adventure. (See next post!)
